Strong customer relationships are just as
important for sustainable business growth
initiatives as business alliance partnerships.
The Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust
(MOPT) is one of Australia’s best-known,
multi-purpose sporting and entertainment
precincts. Haden, who provide a total
whole-of-life capability in mechanical
engineering and air conditioning services,
has had a contract to look after the heating,
ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) for
the precinct since January 2001.
According to Aaron Palmer, Account
Manager, Haden, the ongoing contract
with MOPT involves comprehensive
maintenance, repair and upgrade work of
the HVAC equipment across various venues
within the precinct.
‘This includes venues such as the
Rod Laver Arena (where the major tenant
is Tennis Australia), Hisense Arena, the
Function Centre and the Westpac Centre
(where major tenants are the Collingwood
Football Club and the Victorian Institute of
Sport),’ Aaron said.
While Haden’s Mechanical Services
team’s primary role is to look after MOPT’s
preventative maintenance program, they
are also involved in capital works upgrades.
Haden’s knowledge and experience
enables MOPT to bounce ideas and
look at alternatives rather than just going
with traditional methods or ‘consultant’s
recommendations’ with regards to major
upgrades and installs.

of Karl Saari, Haden’s on-site technician at
MOPT for more than 10 years.
‘Karl’s dedication and site knowledge
has been instrumental in the successful
preparation and delivery of the Australian
Open. All the key tenants and MOPT
management know that Karl can provide
a prompt response and solution to any
HVAC issue that might arise. His personable
manner and technical knowledge is widely
known and appreciated,’ Graeme says.
Haden has definitely won an appreciative
audience for its work with HVAC systems at
the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Precinct.
